Crosby To Skate
On His Own

JANUARY 11--Pens coach Dan Bylsma announced that center Sidney Crosby will join the team in Washington Wednesday night and will skate on his own during a two-game road trip in Florida. "(Crosby) has been working out with light exercises in the weight room and on the bike," Bylsma said. "We'll be glad to see him on the ice." There is no timetable for his return.

Although New York City and Philadelphia are much, much bigger markets than DC and the burgh, this year's Winter Classic  had nearly 800,000 less viewers. Even the Sabres-Pens had more viewers than the big market match-up with a much smaller buildup (and no HBO 24/7).

Today's Pens Report: "Sidney Crosby is not at the team's morning skate. He went back to attend a scheduled doctor's appointment. He'll be back with the team for practice on Monday."

Glass half-full analysis: He is getting final clearance today, so he doesn't miss Monday's practice and is set to resume his career on 11/11/11.

Glass half-empty analysis: concussion symptoms have resurfaced.

Can't go by what Pens say; remember, he was originally diagnosed with a mild concussion and would miss one week.

I'm feeling like it's glass half-full scenario; but as much as I wish I could, I can't discount glass half-empty scenario.
